beautiful people: pencil portraits

come awake: a painting

come awake.
from sleep.
open your eyes.
step from your grave.
into the light.

acrylic, ink on paper, and whatever else on stretched canvas.

in your relief: a painting

worship in response to a shane and shane song that says, "in your relief, i move." beautiful truth. this is acrylic and ink transfer on canvas board.

lion of judah: a painting.

this is a collage of acrylic and newspaper and ink transfer. it's really cool how the lord allowed me to use the words in one newspaper to capture some of his personality.

locked garden: a painting

meditated on this verse for a few months last semester and some this summer. it means a lot to me... the lord really showed me a lot about my heart and where it's hidden. in him. this is acrylic and ink transfer on stretched canvas.

veils: a painting

talk of freedom was bouncing around in my head when i painted this. notice the girl taking the veil off, running toward the castle. it's hard to find. freedom is hard to find.

acylic on stretched canvas... over a door.

behind your eyes: a self-portrait

If you let your feelings go, dear
It's scary what you'll find
I find I'm on your street, dear
And you're always on my mind

And no one needs to know
That you let me in tonight
That you let me see the world behind your eyes
Behind your eyes

I want to see us work, dear
To reach the other side
Our treachery is love, dear
We're on both ends of the fight

We're fighting for ourselves
We're fighting for our lives
Would you let me see the world behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes

And no one needs to know
How scared we are tonight
Would you let me see the world
Won't you let me see the world behind your eyes
Behind your eyes
Behind your eyes

aphesis: a painting.

this is a painting i worked on in a class last year at some point. acrylic on stretched canvas. i was learning a lot about forgiveness and what exactly it means to forgive someone for the things they've done to you, but also to forgive yourself. aphesis is the greek word for forgiveness, or really the freedom that comes from the forgiveness of god.

here is an upclose image of the bird in the top right corner. ink on paper, glued onto stretched canvas.
